Not at all. At least, not for the biological parents.
2. Were you married at the time?
Yes.
3. How did you react to the news of the baby?
I was absolutely thrilled.
4. Was abortion ever an option?
No, and I thank God every day that they chose life.
5. How old were you when your first child arrived?

6. How did you find out you were pregnant?
I wasn’t.
7. With whom did you first share the news of your pregnancy?
Probably everyone we knew.
8. Did you want to find out the sex of the baby?
I did not want to know about the sex. Obviously, that’s where it all started, but that was entirely their business.
9. What was your baby’s due date?
July 10th
10. Did you experience any morning sickness during the pregnancy?
Are you kidding?
11. What did you crave?
Parenthood.
12. Who (or what) irritated you the most, as you awaited the baby’s arrival?
Probably all those well-meaning people who kept asking me if there was any word on the prospective adoption. Obviously, if we had news, we would be ready to broadcast.
13. What was the sex of your first child?
Girl
14. Did you wish you had the opposite sex of what you were having?
No.
15. How many pounds did you gain throughout the pregnancy?
Maybe a few sympathy pounds.
16. Did you have a baby shower?
My sister had one, and our church had another.
17. Was the baby shower a surprise?
Both baby showers occurred after our daughter arrived.
18. Did you experience any complications during the pregnancy?
Besides the possibility that the adoptive placement might not happen?
19. Where did you give birth?
I didn’t, but the baby was born in a hospital.
20. For how many hours were you in labor?
I wasn’t.
21. Who was in the room when the baby arrived?
Besides us (the adoptive parents), the biological mother and father were there, along with her mother and a small army of medical personnel.
22. Was it a natural birth or a C-section?
Natural.
23. Did you take any medicine to ease the pain?
Does Midol count?
24. How much did the baby weigh?
8 lbs., 13 oz.
25. How old is your firstborn now?
18 – holy cow.
