Feliz Navidad: Merry Christmas Carol Countdown

Merry Christmas. Joyeux Noel. And Feliz Navidad.

Here’s an annual favorite, a bilingual greeting by Puerto Rican/American singer/guitarist Jose Feliciano. Although the song has been covered by others artists, including Celine Dion and Michael Buble, Feliciano’s original version of “Feliz Navidad” has enjoyed steady play on the holiday season airwaves for decades.

What does this song mean?

Here’s a fairly close translation, such as you might find with a Spanish-English Dictionary.

Feliz Navidad – Merry Christmas

Prospero Año – Prosperous New Year

y Felicidad.- and Happiness

Did you know?

Jose Feliciano was blinded by glaucoma as a young child, but he focused on music and became a pop and rock legend.

What Child Is This: Merry Christmas Carol Countdown

The Babe of Bethlehem has held the hearts of humanity since that very first Christmas, when God arrived in mortal flesh in a rustic stable, because there was no room for Him in the inn.

What manner of man could this Baby grow to be?

How could the Immortal, All-powerful Almighty take on human form and become a tiny infant, born to a carpenter and his still-virgin wife? What a miracle is Christmas!

Here’s a soul-stirring version of “What Child Is This,” a much-loved Christmas song, set to the tune of an old English folk song known as “Greensleeves.” The music video includes scenes from “The Nativity Story,” a 2006 motion picture.
