What is the best city or town in your home state?
Answers will vary, of course, depending upon the criteria we use for our selections.
Bloomberg Business Week recently announced its 2011 list of the best towns in which to raise children in each state. BBW used data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the IRS, the FBI, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (with statistics provided by Onboard Informatics).

Did your hometown make the list?
Mine didn’t, and I beg to differ with some of the choices. OK, I love Bozeman, Littleton, Marlborough, Sheboygan, White River Junction and many more of these fine towns. But Niles? Seriously? (There’s a story … don’t even ask.)

I don't agree with all of those choices either.
ReplyDeleteVarnell, GA? I'd never even heard of it. I searched it...population about 1,500. It may be safe but it sounds like the kids will be bored to death.

I'm in Atlanta, Georgia, have been here since I was 12 years old (that's...oh...a few years now...!) and I've never heard of Varnell either. A population of 1500 doesn't exactly meet my need for "diversity". I'm sure it's a lovely place though!
